Photographer: William Sutton, Seattle
Image title: Autumn in Alaska
Category: Landscape

Technical details: Canon EOS-1n; Canon 100-400mm IS lens; Gitzo tripod; Fuji RVP 50 film, f/22; shutter speed not recorded
Location: Old Denali Highway, along the Nenana river
Description: During the height of fall color in mid-September 2002, entire mountainsides were carpeted with brilliant foliage along this 135-mile stretch of muddy, rim-busting potholes. Overcast skies provided shadowless light and intense color saturation. The image was composed with the diminutive evergreens acting as visual anchors in a flood of color.
