Description: I was diving at dusk at "The Lion's Den," hoping to get a good shot of a Lionfish (Pterois volitans) hunting. I had seen a few other Lionfish in the previous week, but they were always inside crevices and looking away from me. About 20 minutes into the dive, I spotted the first one, and within minutes I counted over a dozen hunting on the reef. The Lionfish moves relatively slowly, but its spines can produce a nasty sting. Getting in close to one while avoiding the others was a bit challenging.

Through my photography, I strive to capture nature in all of its splendor. My passions are wildlife and underwater photography. This is the third year in a row that my underwater photography has been selected for the World in Focus exhibit and its predecessor, the Northwest Exhibition of Environmental Photography. My photographs are available on my website and in galleries in Hawaii.
