HOW TO ENTER YOUR IMAGES

Images produced on all film formats and types are eligible, although please note that medium- and large-format images must be submitted as either 35mm slides or digital files, as noted below. Images created on digital media are also eligible as either 35mm slides or digital media, as noted below.

Send the completed entry form with your labeled slides to the address indicated on the form. All slides must be 35mm and mounted in thick cardboard or plastic. Oversized, bent, poorly sealed or glass-mounted slides will not be accepted. All entries must include entry fee. Only duplicate 35mm slides may be submitted. No original 35mm slides will be accepted.

Each slide must be clearly marked on the front with the following information: photographer's name, telephone number, title of the image, category, a correlating number (1, 2, 3…) matching the list on the entry form submitted, and a large DOT () to indicate the BOTTOM LEFT of the image. All slides should be sent in clear slide pages. No 'kimac'-type slide sleeves should be used to cover individual slides.

If you wish to have your slide entries returned, enclose a self-addressed, padded mailing envelope with the correct return postage affixed. (Additional payment to cover return postage will NOT be accepted.)

Alternatively, entries may be submitted as digital files on CD-ROM. Files should be a maximum of 2.5 MB in JPEG or TIFF format and have an aspect ratio of 1,024 wide x 768 tall at 72 dpi.

Photographer's name, telephone number, title of the image, category and a correlating number (1, 2, 3…) matching the list on the entry form submitted should be noted in the IPTC, or file info fields attached to the photo file. (IPTC fields pertain to computer users on a PC platform. Press here for more information about IPTC fields. For those working on a Macintosh system, press here for instructions on how to provide image information.) Also, please provide a printout of the directory of files with the disk. Additionally, the photographer's name and telephone number should be labeled ON the disk AND on the outside of the disk case. All entries must include entry fee.

Please note: CD-ROM entries will NOT be returned.

With either form of submission, please provide accurate information regarding the plant or animal species, where appropriate, and the location, including state/province and country. Indicate if any wildlife image includes a wild or captive animal. Indicate if the image has been digitally enhanced or altered when applicable.

Photographers whose images are selected for the exhibit agree to allow World in Focus to post those images to its web site, to publish those images in a special insert of selected winners in the Fall 2003 issue of PhotoMedia magazine, and to use those images to promote World in Focus. Appropriate credit will be given in all cases.

Please note: In addition to selecting images for the print exhibit, judges will also select images for honorable mention. All images selected will be projected in the hospitality and receptions room at Seattle Center in conjunction with the World in Focus Seminar Series (see below).

SUBMISSION OF SELECTED IMAGES

All work selected for the exhibit must be framed, ready to hang, and sized 16x20" to 24x30", due to the exhibit display stand dimensions. Acrylic material ('Plexiglas'), rather than glass, is preferred for all pieces requiring shipping.

The exhibit reserves the right to refuse any work that differs substantially from the image on the slide, or if the framed pieces do not meet the exhibit's desired professional quality of presentation. The photographer agrees to provide for the return of the work, including adequate provision for shipping costs and insurance. For photographers residing in Canada, please include the appropriate customs form as needed, for the return shipping. The exhibit cannot accept personal checks to cover return postage or delivery fees.
